Record-breakers celebrated

A record-breaking year was celebrated by students and staff at the annual Presentation Evening.

Guests and parents at the Riverhead Theatre event heard that East Lindsey’s highest performing Progress 8 school in 2024 had improved again in the summer.

Principal Joe Hermiston was delighted with the results at the Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust school.

“We are proud to give 11-16 year olds an aspirational learning environment which enables them to overachieve,” he said.

“This year we achieved our highest ever examination results, significantly above the national average.”

He said Louth Academy was rooted in “fantastic teaching, pastoral care, trips and outstanding enrichment opportunities.”

“We provide students with the building blocks to become global citizens and proud members of their local community.

“Louth Academy students enjoy an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum which prepares them for adult life, Tonight is not just about celebrating the Year 11 results it’s about celebrating the hard work of all our students.

“Our curriculum is designed to be flexible to allow for personalised learning.

“It is not confined to the classroom and students are given outstanding enrichment to aid their educational experience.”

Students who completed the Silver Duke of Edinburgh award were awarded their certificates on the night.

“We have extremely high standards which equip students for success in the classroom and beyond,” Mr Hermiston said.

“Setting the students up for success is central to our ethos and our ongoing mission is to facilitate the students’ aspirational future.”

Chair of Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust Philip Bond congratulated staff, students, parents and carers on the achievements.

“Louth Academy has become a beacon of excellence within the Trust and the county,” Mr Bond said.

The evening included various musical performances. The school choir gave it a wonderful start and, during the awards, students in Year 10 performed and Eva Costa Jackson and Sophie Jarron sang a duet State Line.

It was closed, appropriately, by a performance of ‘Movin’ On Up’ from The Jam Band.

The performances showed the breadth of talent that was being encouraged at the Academy, added Mr Hermiston.

Guest at the awards was Louth’s Mayor Cllr Darren Hobson.
