Louth Academy is celebrating an outstanding footballing achievement after two boys’ teams were crowned champions of the Wolds Football League in a remarkable season of success.
The Year 7 side won all their five games while the Year 9s won four out of five, scoring 36 goals and conceding only five.
Head of PE Chris Prendergast said the Year 9s’ attacking strength and defensive resilience set them apart, with several standout performances across the season.
One player in particular, Harry Lyons, consistently delivered match-winning contributions, while Ollie Larder was instrumental in controlling the tempo of games from midfield.
The title was secured in emphatic fashion in the final round, as Louth Academy faced King Edward VI Grammar School with the championship on the line.
Rising to the occasion, the team delivered a dominant 5–0 victory, sealing the title in style and underlining their quality.
The Year 7 team matched that success with an equally impressive campaign, topping the league with a perfect 15 points.
Their performances were characterised by teamwork, resilience, and attacking flair.
Teddy Locking-Sharp stood out with a series of excellent displays in front of goal, while Ollie Stanton provided a solid defensive foundation that allowed the team to play with confidence.
Like the Year 9s, the title came down to a decisive final match against KEVIGs.
In a thrilling encounter, Louth Academy emerged victorious with a 4–2 win, showing composure and determination under pressure to secure the championship.
To secure two titles in the same season highlights the strength of football at Louth Academy, said Mr Prendergast.
Principal Joe Hermiston praised the achievement.
"We are incredibly proud of both our Year 7 and Year 9 teams," he said.
"To see them crowned champions is a fantastic achievement and a testament not only to their talent, but to their commitment, teamwork and resilience throughout the season.
"They have represented Louth Academy with real pride."
Head of PE Mr Prendergast highlighted the work behind the success.
"This success is the result of months of hard work, dedication and a real willingness from the students to improve every week," he said.
"The boys have shown outstanding attitude in training and matches, and it’s brilliant to see that effort rewarded with two league titles."
The triumphant Year 9s.
A perfect, winning season for the Year 7 side.
